Similar to the Russian shorthair in size and color, the Korat has a single rather than double coat, and peridot-green rather than emerald-green eyes.  Despite their innocent expression, Korats are strong-willed and thrive on having their own way.  Very rarely, individuals carry neuromuscular disorders.

History Of The Korat:

The Cat Book Poems of the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1350-1767) describes the silver-blue Si-Sawat from Korat, a remote Thai plateau.  Korats were introduced into the United States in 1959 and recognized there in 1965.  The first pair was imported into Britain in 1972, and the breed was recognized in 1975.  It remains rare everywhere.
