Shih Tzu: Health Issues & Personality
Shih Tzu:
The vivacious Shih Tzu is both a gentle lapdog and spunky companion. It is good with children and affectionate with its family.
While the Shih Tzu is a robust dog, it needs a carefully balanced diet to avoid weight problems. Show dogs must daily have their coats untangled with a steel comb and a brush of boar bristles; a preparation containing mink oil sprayed on will help to eliminate knots in the coat. The long hair on its head can be tied in a small knot at the top of the skull to clear its vision. The dog should not be allowed to sleep near sources of heat, which can cause its coat to lose its attractive lustre. The Shih Tzu should be bathed every five or six weeks.
