American Foxhound, Australian Shepherd: Personality & Health Issues
American Foxhound
The Foxhound is a robust and sturdy hunter, and its upkeep is easy.  Like all pack dogs, however, this hound craves the company of its own kind and the noisy excitement of the chase.  These natural inclinations make it a poor pet, particularly for city dwellers, who might find the dog difficult to keep exercised and under control.
Average Lifespan Of The American Foxhound: 10-12 Years
Average Weight: Males and Females: 50-70lbs

Inherited Health Disorders:
Small Eye (microphthalmia): Usually is related to other eye conditions, such as defects of the lens, retina, or cornea.  Dogs with Microphthalmia have third eyelids and small eyes recessed into the eye socket.  You will see this condition once new born pups open their eyes.  This condition is unpredictable, the puppies eyes may worsen or the condition may heal itself.  See a vet.
Inherited Health Disorders:
PPM (Persistant Pupillary Membrane).
Retinal Dysplasia (Detachment): A type of retinal deformation.
Malformed Eye Tunic (Scleral Ectasia): A thinning of the sclera or cornea, usually seen in Collies and related breeds.  The condition on its own is not serious, but it is usually associated with more serious eye diseases.
Australian Shepherd
Bred to withstand the rigours of the outback, its weather resistant coat needs only routine brushing.  But as an energetic working dog, the breed does require plenty of exercise.
