Beauceron: Health Issues & Personality
Beauceron:
The Beauceron originated in France, and is now mainly found in Continental Europe working as herding dogs. The breed has a very strong hunting instinct that makes it a superlative shepherd: with no hesitation it takes the offensive against straying sheep or approaching strangers. It has an unconditional loyalty to its master and a natural aptitude for obedience (they are one of the easiest to train dog breeds).
Some Beaucerons, if poorly handled or unloved, can prove extremely dangerous, and no amount of discipline or affection can condition this dog to city life. Yet if raised at the same time as the master's children, a Beauceron can prove to be an affectionate and protective pet. They have been known to make very effective police and military dogs; in fact they were very close to ranking on our list of top 10 guard dogs.
This hardy breed rarely suffers from health problems. A dog that lives outdoors should be brushed briskly every day. The Beauceron is slow to mature, and training will, therefore, be innefective if it is begun before the dog is two years old.
